It’s the little things in life…

I know he probably approves all his fans but Kevin Smith added me to his friends list on myspace today and I feel special 🙂 (I’m a total Clerks junkie)

So, in exchange I promise I won’t illegally download his new movie coming out this fall.

I love this chick’s blog

I generally enjoy reading her blog but particularly enjoyed this article. So raw and human with such  a flair for description I felt like i was there. I wish I could write like that. Maybe I need to start giving lap dances and it will come. (Pun intended :-))

Check it out.

Detox Day 8 and other ramblings

To date- 11lbs lost!

Went t a fun raw food potluck this morning. I made chocolate raw pudding. It consists of two avocados, about 2 dozen dates, some raw honey, and a ton of dark chocolate cocoa powder mixed with my stick blender. It was OMG good. And even better, how good it felt to tell the kids to go ahead and eat up! Fantastic!!

In other news, baby man is teething hard core. Fever. Gnawing on everything (including me), totally not sleeping. I have one of those amber teething necklaces on order, have one of those mesh feeders that i’ve been filling with ice for him to gnaw on. He’s also not sleeping which stinks since he was my good sleeper! Hopefully those teeth will pop through already (i can feel the bump on his gums, they’re so close) so things can get back to normal!

And in sillier news, thanks to the Rock Band game for PS2 I’m honing my drumming skills. Watch out world, I’ve got rhythm!

Detox Day 5: Interesting turn of events

Aside from the wonderful side effect of losing 8lbs, not feeling bloated and my arm fat no longer folding over on itself, a long term condition of mine is suddenly resolving itself. I have acanthosis nigricans.  It tends to get worse during pregnancy for me, but after the last two it’s stuck around and continued to get worse. It’s usually a sign of potential diabetes but is also related to obesity and can be hereditary. It’s a darkening of the skin in places that rub or fold. For me, generally the upper thighs, neck, under breast, and armpit areas. The stuff on my neck and under my breasts simply is disappearing, and the stuff under the armpits peeling off to reveal fresh new skin. Amazing. Detox = good. I really am feeling better already in just a few short days tho I admit I’m getting sick of pooping 7 times a day, so far I don’t feel deprived, I love not having to count anything, and I was even able to eat out last night and not blow my diet. I may actually be able to stick with this after years of not being able to commit to a plan for getting bored with the food, tired of counting/portioning/being hungry/, or feeling deprived of a favorite. This plan lets me eat till I’m full, it’s all real food, I can still eat favorites out (I had cedar plank salmon and steamed vegetables last night mmm), and I can have dark chocolate (my ultimate favorite treat) with any meal. Loving it.

Mm celery

So part of this diet plan is 3 stalks celery in the morning. No biggie, I love celery I’ll eat the whole darn thing. Well baby ma was sitting on my lap and is completely fascinated by eating. he grabbed my stalk, stuck it in his mouth, then pulled it back out looking perplexed. So he sticks it in MY mouth, where I bite and he’s amazed and confused, not having teeth of his own, that i was able to eat it lol so again he puts it in his mouth, trying to bite, to no avail, and puts it back in my mouth lol I’ve just been fed by a 6 month old, must be opposite day.

Detox day 2: TMI

So Day two, not feeling too bad in fact having a good amount of energy. Pooed twice before 1pm.  Not overly hungry or starving or anything. So far so good. Looking forward to dinner tonight, Endive Bruchetta and Detox Pizza. Woohoo!

Detox Time!

In fact it’s well past time. Finding myself about 110lbs overweight and gaining, it’s time to do SOMETHING. I’ve had the most success with diets that are low in refined sugars, and help combine the right foods together. This go around I’m trying the raw food detox diet. The main reason being it looks really flexible, it allows for dining out, the recipes so far are actually good, and you can eat as much as you want until you’re full. My initial fear was that all these veggies would be very expensive. Not so much! In fact it was about $30 more than I’d normally spend (I spend abour $75-100 a week on groceries, and that includes my household goods like toilet paper and tooth paste and shampoo and the like), and I think once I get used to it, I can shave off that extra money. Since I didn’t go grocery shopping until tonight, we started this evening with whole grain lasagna and guacamole salad. I wound up making more of an avocado dressing because at $1.50 a pop I’m not buying the roughly 30 avocados necessary to provide avocados twice a day all week for 4 people on top of extra for making guac. But so far otherwise, it’s looking good.

Two reviews

Yesterday we went to the new Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach. It’s not a bad park, altho a bit small and be prepared to spend $3 a pop for water. The Led Zeppelin Roller Coaster is definitely the highlight of the place, and we were lucky to have no line to get in. The boys had a good time with the exception that the height requirement signs at the beginning of the line are different than the measuring sticks the workers at the end of the line had, so middle man was unable to ride a few things that he’d thought he’d be able to get in on. There is a small kiddie land however and a neat room with all these things that launch foam balls all over that the kids really enjoyed. We also liked the Indiana Jones-esque climbing area.

My second review is on Funk Butter. I wore this stuff under my arms for 7 hours in the sweltering heat yesterday and didn’t stink a bit! A rarity in natural deoderants; it actually works.

You tell ’em girl!

Long time no chat Demetria, hope you are well 🙂

In the meanwhile, hope all enjoy this little ditty in response to ACOG and the AMA trying to take away yet MORE of our rights.
