Thanksgiving on a diet

I am so tired of seeing ways to do thanksgiving on a diet. Splenda in pies, skipping dessert, etc etc. Please people! Unless you are diabetic or have some similar medically based need, it is not going to kill you to eat one slice of grandma’s best apple pie, or to put a little gravy on your potatoes.  It’s a holiday. You are celebrating.  It’s an excuse to indulge a little. If you’re trying to lose weight, then just eat a nice meal. Have one slice of pie instead of one of each, and call it good. Why deprive yourself for the sake of fashion? Go back to your diet the next day. If you’re on weight watchers, save up those points and use them for the holiday. It’s why we have holidays! We need a day to stop worrying about petty little things like a dress size by new years, or a bad day at work. It’s time to commune and break bread with our fellow man, our friends, our family. It’s almost rude not to eat. So let your hair down, put on your fat pants, and enjoy the day. Go back to the diet tomorrow, or later that evening even. Thanksgiving is just one day a year. Be thankful that you’re able to have food on the table, if you are able to, and eat it.
