Wasn’t so bad…

Doing crafts at the shelter wasn’t too bad. There were two toddlers, an 8 year old and a couple teens showed up. I had books, crafts and face paint and face paints won out over all. So everyone (even the teens) got their faces done and we stuck around to help a little with dinner. DS1 helped dish out watermelon and DS2 filled cups with ice for drinks. It all worked out well and DS1 seemed to learn a lot from the experience and had lots of really good questions to ask. We served dinner to over 50 people. Thinking that’s probably a fraction of the people in Charleston who are unable to put a meal on their table for dinner, we have a real problem here and it was very eye opening.  I hope my boys got a lesson today and hope it’s something we can continue to help with in our area.
